I have my ex-husband to thank for this one. 9
years ago, I was a marine wife and mom. I had twin almost 2-year olds and a brand-new
baby at home. My husband at the time was away in California for training for an
entire month. Lucky for us, this was the first time we had been apart since we
met. However, between being postpartum, having too much to do, no sleep, and
just all around being lonely, I was not handling it well. This led to me
smashing the top off a pickle jar in our sink because there was no other way it
was getting open. I really wanted pickles, and I needed what felt like a win in
that moment. When he got back, we had two weeks before he left again for a
year. In our pre-deployment preparing he made sure to equip me with an oil
filter wrench to open all my jars properly. Never would I have though apart
from an auto store would solve this lifelong problem I had in the
kitchen.
I highly suggest everyone gets a rubber strap wrench for your kitchen. Like a spatula or mixing spoon, it is just an item everyone needs to have. I have the same one I've used for the past 9 years, but you can easily find them at Lowes, Harbor Freight or Amazon for $10-$12.
