The main problem is in our hobby space. If you use the bedroom for working (even work you enjoy), it’s essential to keep it contained. You want to be able to put it away so that when it is time for bed, you can shut your brain off. (Or at least try).
We had great bones. This desk I already owned was full of surface space. It allowed me to have my sewing machine set up all the time, with plenty of room for my cutter, computer, and a surface to paint when I tucked my laptop away. (Ameriwood Home Dakota L-Shaped Desk).
Tucking my bulky Brother cutter in the corner made the space feel more open. The real winner was the cube shelf I found at Target (6 Cube Organizer—Brightroom™). The black was so close to the desk's color, which made my heart happy. Each cube is 13”, and the bins were an Amazon find (Found Here). I moved closed storage items to the end cap of the desk to help with visual clutter. Command hooks helped control the cords to my husband's music supplies.
The rest of the room just needed good cleaning. My favorite is how good a tidy space feels.
This is the dream look (thank you, Pinterest), but for now, I’m thrilled with the transformation. It's a space that now contains all our activities in a way that doesn’t overwhelm me. Someday, the bedroom will just be for sleeping.
